The Best Choice Learning Center

“The Best Choice Learning Center program has had a positive impact not only on my child, but our entire family. We value and appreciate the love and support as well as the foundation the Best Choice Center provides.”

Community Issue

In Forsyth County public schools, only 53% of third graders (38% for African Americans and 32% for Hispanics) pass the end of grade (EOG) tests.

The YWCA’s Best Choice Learning Center offers year-round, K-8 academic enrichment and need based scholarships. Our program uses certified teachers and bilingual staff, and we provide nutrition education, healthy snacks, and hot meals. We also have strong community partners including Crosby Scholars and Big Brothers Big Sisters to provide a peer mentor programs improving school functioning skills.

Juvenile Crime Prevention

Second Chance for Graduation

The YWCA empowers low income and at-risk youth to be successful and stay in school. For over a decade the YWCA has been involved in youth intervention services by operating two well-respected juvenile crime prevention programs—Teen Court and Work & Earn It—funded in part by the North Carolina Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC), the United Way of Forsyth County, and the YWCA.

Both programs are designed to work with youth and their families to ensure youth get back on track after committing minor first-time offenses.
